Resting Place (2023)

3 mins, 16mm, Experimental, Silent

For those living with invisible illness we often find ourselves repetitively returning to rest. Resting Place captures the filmmaker returning to bed, reflecting on their experience living with chronic illness. The work utilizes multiple exposures to illustrate the ritual of rest. For many of us living with chronic illness we bide our time waiting in bed. The bed offers a safe space. A space that is scared. A place of recovery and rest. Although the bed can offer a place of healing, it siamotainously isolates us. The loneliness of being bed bound leaves us longing. The relief of return, contrasted with the hindrance to stay. The hours away fluctuate with each passing day, but the return is imminent. The ritual is inevitable.

Paris Model (2021)

5:45 mins, 16mm, Experimental, Silent

Paris Model uses a combination of 16mm found footage and experimental film manipulation techniques to create a macabre and haunting image, asking the audience to contemplate mortality and the temporality of the flesh. The ghostly figure of the model fades in and out of recognition, skin bubbling and dissipating, adding a disturbing yet exciting element to the striptease being performed for the viewer.  The film also seeks to distort and disrupt the viewer’s gaze of feminine bodies and asks the viewer to considers the way in which they view and support sexual autonomy.
